TerraGreen Office Park

TerraGreen Office Park is Springfield’s first planned office development created with sustainable design methods. Conceived and developed by R.B. Murray Company, along with consultants, Olsson & Associates, Hufft Projects, and DLR Group, TerraGreen is an innovative development that aims to create an office park that provides a healthy, productive and sustainable work environment.

Eight buildings will be located on the final site. Sustainable design elements include:

Daylighting with no artificial light on sunny days: The angle of exterior windows and reflective surfaces help tenants to minimize use of artificial light.

Building Construction: Recycled materials and low-energy consumption products will be researched and utilized where possible.  Reflective white roof materials will be used to help building heat gain.

Off-site detention: A regional detention program, paid for and maintained by the office park, will be implemented. Site design improves water quality before it reaches the basin.

Solar lighting: Used for exterior low voltage lighting.

Minimizing impervious areas: Landscape and parking lot design including concrete pavers and grass minimizes the impervious area allowing storm water to infiltrate the ground decreasing the run-off from the site.

Landscaping: The landscape design will minimizes irrigation requirements.

Building systems: Geothermal heating and cooling, Raised Floor Systems and Heat Pumps will be used where appropriate.

Pedestrian and biker friendly: Sidewalks, trails and bike racks will encourage green travel alternatives.

Recycling program: All tenants will be encouraged to participate in the TerraGreen recycling program.

LEED Concepts: Human & Environmental Health, Sustainable Site Design, Water Savings, Energy Efficiency, Materials Selection and Indoor Environmental Quality.
